Job Description
Van Andel Institute has an excellent opportunity for an individual with several years of post-graduate event planning experience! This position reports to the Special Events Manager and has a key role in planning, organizing, and executing department retreats; VAI employee meetings and events; golf outings; J Board events; events with the Griffins, Red Wings, and Whitecaps; and breakfasts, lunches and dinners related to cultivation and stewardship. Specific duties include:
· Assisting with creating, planning and organizing assigned Development, Communications & Marketing (DC&M) fundraising and non-fundraising events, primarily local yet sometimes national;
· Recruiting, leading and directing volunteers at each event, and creating engagement and stewardship plan for volunteers;
· Coordinating event logistics and services, including production of all event mailings and collateral print materials;
· Attending event committee meetings, preparing agendas and materials, and completing all event planning and execution strategies in a timely manner;
· Conducting post-event wrap-up and evaluation with vendors, in-kind donors, DC&M staff and VAI Finance department to verify income statements for each event, including maintaining an annual event portfolio for historical purposes and record keeping;
· Maintaining accurate event records, including expenses, revenue and guest names and information relating to special events;
· Tracking and managing essential membership lists, including sending reminders when membership lapses;
oPerforming all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Priority consideration will be given to candidates who have:
· A Bachelor's Degree in Event Management or related field;
· 4 to 6 years of POSTGRADUATE PROFESSIONAL experience in event planning, fundraising, marketing, or public/community relations;
· Working knowledge of the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship processes;
· Significant project management and coordination experience;
· Demonstrated ability to work with staff, volunteers, and build relationships with the general public;
· Excellent oral, presentation delivery and written communication, planning , and organizational skills
· Excellent attention to detail and strong inner work standards;
· Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks within prescribed timeframes;
· Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; experience with Raiser's Edge preferred;
· Ability to work in a flexible environment with rapidly changing priorities;
· Ability to work outside of the normal work day, including weekends.

Position Summary:

Calvin College seeks an Associate/Assistant Professor of Kinesiology. The kinesiology department invites applications for an Associate/Assistant Professor of Kinesiology with expertise in clinical exercise physiology. This is a full-time, tenure-track appointment, pending administrative approval, with an anticipated starting date of August 10, 2015. The Department of Kinesiology seeks a faculty member to maintain the high level of scientific rigor coupled with considerable hands-on experiences offered to our 150 Exercise Science and Pre-Professional (allied health) students. A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in exercise science or a related area and a demonstrated potential for research are required. Teaching experience is highly valued. An American College of Sports Medicine Certification as a Clinical Exercise Specialist or Clinical Exercise Physiologist is preferred.
